Technical Lead – Java – London – Up to £75,000 + 10% Bonus & Benefits
A leading online gaming company are currently searching for a hands-on Technical Lead with strong Java experience join their collaborative team based in Central London. The client are responsible for some of the UK’s leading gaming sites and apps and are currently in a phase of strong growth, and therefore need to increase the range of expertise within their Development team.
This is a hands on role, and would suit a developer who is new to management, or an existing manager who would like to devote more time to development. You will be responsible for management duties and development in a small team. Delivering a brand new system, you can look forward to a young code base and a well thought out roadmap to bring even more features and new games to the client’s online offering.
As the Technical Lead, you will be accountable for the timely delivery and quality of online games and feature updates. You’ll be responsible for the line management of a small team of developers and QAs, which will include regular one-to-ones, career development and performance reviews. Whilst managing the team, you’ll be involved with hands-on development, creating high quality solutions, as well as continually improving the team processes, quality of deliverables and technical standards. Overall, you’ll ensure that the team is delivering excellent quality solutions, reporting on the progress and improving delivery if necessary.
The suitable individual will have strong sever-side Java development experience, ideally within an Agile environment, and technical skills including experience with:
• NoSQL database development (MongoDB)
• Spring framework (Core, Boot, Web)
• Testing good practices, both unit and integration testing (Junit, Mockito)
• Maven and Git
• Working on high-volume, highly available websites
• RESTful Web Services
• Design Patterns
As the Technical Lead, you’ll be an empathetic leader, who balances the need of your development team with the needs of the business. You’ll be a dependable professional who can communicate clearly to various levels, including developers, managers and business stakeholders. A lateral thinker, who can solve problems using creative reasoning, you’ll also proactively seek out areas of inefficiency within the scope of the role, taking action to make continuous improvements.
Due to the nature of the role, any previous experience of working within the gaming industry is highly beneficial.
